Features and Functionality
Can I Report a Number?
Yes. Simply enter the number into GTG Beacon and use the comment box to tell us why you believe it should be flagged. Our team will review and analyze submissions for inclusion in our threat database.
Can I Verify My Business Numbers So They’re Not Misclassified?
Yes. If you want to protect your business’s phone numbers from being incorrectly flagged, email us at feedback@gtg.online. We’ll work with you to get your number listed as GTG Verified.
All verified numbers will include:
- A validation badge
- Optional business description
- A link to your Do Not Call list, which must be honored by your organization
Will I Be Able to Manage a Do-Not-Call List for My Profile?
In an upcoming release, yes. You will be able to allow users to opt out of calls by adding themselves to a verified do-not-call list associated with your GTG Verified Number profile.
Does GTG Beacon Block or Filter Phone Calls?
Not yet. GTG Beacon is currently a research and detection tool. We’re working on features that will help you block or filter high-risk calls, and we plan to release them in future updates.
Does Beacon Cause Any Disruption to Phone Numbers When Performing Lookups?
No. Beacon retrieves information directly from trusted phone carrier databases and publicly available sources, never from the devices themselves. Our lookups are non-intrusive, passive, and do not place any calls, texts, or cause disruptions to service.
Why Might the Risk Score for a Number Seem Inaccurate?
GTG Beacon is currently in beta, meaning our risk scores rely on existing data, community reports, and ongoing threat intelligence. As more users submit numbers, the accuracy and comprehensiveness of our scoring improves. Your participation helps us become better every day.
Does Submitting a Phone Number Automatically Flag it as a Scam Number?
No. When you submit a number, it is not automatically added to a scam list or flagged publicly. Instead, your submission helps us investigate further and refine our scoring. Our team carefully reviews every submission before making any changes to the number's classification.
Will Other People Know if I Submit a Phone Number?
No. Submitting a phone number to Beacon is private. Your identity and submissions are confidential and never are publicly shared or visible to other users.
Does Submitting Numbers to Beacon Improve Its Detection Capabilities?
Absolutely. Every submission helps us enhance our database, fine-tune our Risk Engine, and ultimately provide better protection for everyone.
Pricing
Is GTG Beacon Free?
Yes. During our public beta, GTG Beacon is free to use. We will announce details on premium features and pricing after the beta period concludes.
Scam Awareness and Case Study
Why do some 1-800 numbers, like the IRS Tax Help Line, show up as “Fraudulent Call”?
During internal testing for GTG Beacon, our scam number lookup tool flagged 1 (800) 829-1040, the official IRS Tax Help Line, with a caller ID of “Fraudulent Call.” That might seem like a false positive, but it’s actually not.
Here’s why:
- Most toll-free numbers, such as 1-800 numbers, were initially designed for inbound calls only.
- While some can now make outbound calls, it’s costly and rarely done.
- Scammers spoof trusted 1-800 numbers (like the IRS) to trick people.
- To prevent confusion, some organizations intentionally label outbound calls from these numbers as “Fraudulent Call” to warn recipients that they don’t make outgoing calls from those numbers.
GTG Beacon flags these for awareness. If a toll-free number calls you, be cautious—legitimate organizations rarely do this.

We built GTG Beacon to protect everyone, from young people getting their first phone to older adults at risk of scams. Special attention has been given to features that make it easy to use for seniors, kids, and non-technical users.
Can I Share GTG Beacon with Others?
Absolutely. The more people who use Beacon, the more accurate and powerful it becomes. Please share it with your friends, family, and community groups to help spread protection.
Can I partner with GTG to offer Beacon to my members or customers?
Yes. If you represent an organization (like a nonprofit, telecom provider, or advocacy group) and would like to offer GTG Beacon to your audience, reach out to us at feedback@gtg.online. We’re actively building partnerships and would love to hear from you.
